The discipline of economic geology covers all aspects pertaining to the description and understanding of mineral resources.
The student who successfully completes the course will:
- be aware of the mineral resources most important today
- have an advanced knowledge of the geological processes forming ore deposits
- have a solid knowledge of the main deposit types and of the main principles of mineral exploration
- be able to associate geological, mineralogical and geochemical features to the main deposit types
- be aware of the main processes in mineral recovery
- be able to critically interpret bibliographic resources describing ore deposits
